ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
INTRODUCTION:
At Mandarin Focus we retain professional teachers, fluent in Mandarin and highly proficient to fluent in English. Our teachers are devoted to imparting to their students not only their knowledge but also a love and respect for a language and culture that is unique, mysterious and diverse.
At MandarinFocus you will find a dedicated teaching staff in tune with your needs. To assure that each student receives individual attention classes are limited to no more than 5 students. Class time is allotted for teacher-assisted projects, activities and assignments. There will be regular review and practice of new material. In addition, private tutoring can be arranged. The pace of each class will vary according to the needs of the students.
We believe that to master a language you need to be able to use the language correctly. Simply memorizing a list of words and sentences is not learning Chinese. Mastering the use of a few words at a time and being able to use them interchangeably is the key to mastery.
We strive to teach using pedagogically sound methodology. Our director is a professional linguist and not simply someone who can speak both Chinese and English. We take teaching and learning seriously and strive to give you an excellent and enriching China experience. Even if you never have the opportunity to sit down as a translator for the President of the United States and the President of China we guarantee you will learn an amazing amount of Chinese and have a truly rewarding, maybe “once in a lifetime” experience studying here with us. Our Teachers:
At Mandarin Focus our Chinese teachers are experienced in teaching Chinese to non-speakers. Our teachers have university degrees. We currently have several Japanese speaking teachers. Our teachers have learned how to teach Chinese, not just how to present material to students. They meet at least once a week with their supervisors and with each other. We also have a group of teachers from local universities who may periodically give lectures.
Students are encouraged to utilize their teacher’s knowledge. Through written submissions and comments your teacher will be able to provide the quickest and best solution to any learning obstacles you may encounter.
Programs:
Our courses encompass the Chinese language, its culture and its history. We will also provide other special programs and related cultural activities as well as tours of Beijing and other regions.
Program Features:
-Year-round courses with experienced and professional teachers to all levels of understanding
- Flexible selections of courses and time and location
-School is conveniently located in downtown Beijing close to subway and bus stops.
-Comfortable temperature controlled classrooms for classroom teaching or private tutoring.
-Instruction may be arranged at other locations in Beijing to suit your schedule and needs.
-New enrollment starts every Monday.
-We can arrange for accommodations; either Hotel rooms, apartments or rooms in private homes.
-We can arrange for special instruction in calligraphy, painting, martial arts and cooking.
-We also book cultural events including the Beijing Opera, Acrobatics, Martial Arts and Sports events.
-Arrange cultural or language practice activities. (These are optional but inexpensive opportunities.)
-Sightseeing travel within Beijing for language practice (optional of moderate expense)
-Optional sightseeing travel outside Beijing for your language and study tour. We provide accommodation booking/ticketing information and assistance for you if needed.
-Provide transportation arrangements to and from the airport for new students. (Daily pickup service can also be arranged for a small fee.)
-For students who are preparing to take the HSK exam, we offer special assistance and guidance.
