ABOUT OUR COURSES
                                                                       GENERAL COURSES

Beginner:

This course level gives the student a basic foundation in Mandarin. Students will be introduced to Pinyin, the official Romanized version of Mandarin. Listening, speaking and Pinyin are emphasized. Reading Pinyin assists the student in practice of tonal pronunciation. Vocabulary is built to about 500 words in common usage.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to ask and answer who what and where questions, give and respond to greetings and express preferences.

Class time is divided between introduction of new material, projects, activities and assignments, and will provide time for practice and reviews. This class meets for 2- 4 hours each day, 5 days a week. If you want three or four hours of learning, we can accommodate your needs.

Intermediate I:

This course builds on previously acquired skills. Chinese characters are gradually introduced. Vocabulary is built to about 1200 words. New grammatical structures and vocabulary are practiced in the context of everyday situations: telephone conversation, travel, office and restaurant. As in the Beginning course, Class time is provided for individualized assignments, practice and review. This class meets for 2-4 hours per day, 5 days a week.

Intermediate II:

This is a more advanced level. Emphasis is given to reading and writing using Chinese characters. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to use roughly 1800 words in a grammatically correct and appropriate fashion. Authentic materials, such as newspaper, humorous stories, idioms, cultural background material used in addition to textbooks. Again, ample class time is given for teacher - assisted individual work.

Intensive Fully Literate:

Intensive fully literate course includes full language, speaking, reading and writing Chinese characters.  On an individual basis.

Courses are combined with language practice activities:

Morning sessions of Chinese lessons + afternoon activities
Monday afternoon:  Forbidden City
Tuesday afternoon:   Summer Palace
Wednesday afternoon:  The Temple of Heaven
Thursday afternoon:  The Great Wall
Friday afternoon: The Lama Temple and the Temple of Earth
Weekend tours can include: Beijing rural areas, or a trip to Shanghai, or to Pingyao (well preserved ancient city, or cliff hanging temple, about 4 to 5 hours from Beijing)  or Chengde (small Tibet temple) or to Xian ( terracotta warriors ) , etc ...If  you want to travel independently , we may  help you with booking air and train tickets  for your convenience.


Our afternoon activities are flexible according to your needs and weather:

You may also join our language practice activity group to eat local delicacies or to watch the local park scenes of Gongfu, Chinese dancing, morning calligraphy land writing and the Beijing opera. You will feel amazed by the local cultural life which can help you to know more of the people and language as well.


                                                                     TYPES OF COURSES

Standard Group Course:

Take advantage of our small group lessons. 3 to 5 persons each group, more focused on practice and learning, student centered.  You may get a chance to interact with your teacher and classmates. 3-4 hours in the morning, between 9 am and 1:00 pm, five days per week.


Group Course + private teaching:

This is a package of group studying in the morning from 9 to 1:00, five days per week, then one on one in the afternoon. Either to review what you have learned, or start a new subject of your own interest. 


One for one, or one for two:

This is individual based instruction with student tailored lessons. Totally arranged for you according to your own interest of lessons, your pace of learning, and the levels you want to reach. In this case, studying time and location and material are all flexible for you to choose.

Intensive or Fully l literate Course (8 hours a day)

Are you coming to intensify your listening or speaking or writing or vocabulary? Or do you need a quick study of essential phrases for daily life? Come to join our intensified lessons.

Practical Chinese

Courses are Individually designed for daily communication needs. We stress communication using both words and body signals to help you understand and communicate better.


Part time course

Are you occupied during the week working, but want an hour or two of Chinese lessons for certain days? Tell us your needs; we may arrange early morning or evening and weekend private tutoring at locations other than our school. (Additional transportation fees might be required depending on the distance and time of travel).

Group lessons can be arranged if you contact us with 2 or more students willing to meet at the same time and location. For example we could travel out to the River Garden subdivision near the Beijing Airport.
