Even more absorbing to China watchers in recent times has been the country’s economy, now the world’s fastest growing, while its predominant language , Mandarin Chinese (called Putonghua) , the national language of the People’s Republic of China is spoken by more people than any other single language on earth. Travelers who speak Mandarin are able to converse in Chinese and will have a more rewarding experience when visiting china. WHY BEIJING?
Beijing is the capital of the People’s Republic of China and was established as such during the Jin dynasty in AD 1153. For the past 800 years the city has been the country’s political, economic and cultural center. Thus Mandarin (Putonghua) phonetics is based on Beijing Mandarin (local language). Mandarin, as spoken in Beijing, is considered to be the standard for the People’s Republic of China. (Though, just like in the United States and other countries, certain parts of the country use a variation of pronunciation and local words, in Chinese we call these differences dialects. Mandarin is understood all over China and the world, unlike other dialects which often are only understood in that one region.)

Our youngest student was 22 years old and the oldest person we have worked with was 60 years old. We have taught students from all over the world: America, Japan, almost all of Europe and Australia. We can provide hourly, daily or long-term courses teaching you Mandarin at the level you choose: from basic phrases to a fluency that will see you through any situation. Anyone can learn Mandarin given the time, effort and superior teaching provided by Mandarin Focus.
